As owner of one of the nation's premier jewelry appraisal and gemological services company, I can confidently say the key to receiving the most for your diamonds, gold and jewelry is twofold.

At The Jewelry Buyer of Denver you get both.

As a Graduate Gemologist & Master Gemologist Appraiser® of the American Society of Appraisers and a Senior Member of the American Society of Appraisers no other buyer is more educated in valuation sciences than David Bowie.

As the owner of a successful third generation jewelry business, we have the resources. Whether you want to sell your scrap gold or your 5 carat diamond, we consistently pay more than any jewelry store or pawn shop.

In order to offer you the most for your jewelry, a thorough examination must be made. This may mean having your diamond removed from its setting if it is not GIA certified. We are glad to offer this service at no charge. Click here to see how the buying process works.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to schedule an appointment ?

Yes. Please call our office at 888-390-8842 or email us so we may schedule an appointment.

How does the buying process work ?

Your phone call or e-mail will be answered by a knowledgeable, friendly consultant who has a Graduate Gemologist degree and acts as David Bowie’s eyes and ears. After your questions have been answered, an appointment will be arranged for you to meet with the consultant in their office to examine and evaluate your gold or platinum jewelry.

Items that contain important diamonds require the consultant to conduct all of the necessary tests and to provide David with a clear picture of the jewelry items.  Then the consultant will speak with David by telephone to obtain his offer.

When you have accepted David’s offer for your gold, platinum, and diamonds, the consultant will prepare a bill of sale for you to sign.  The bill of sale is an affidavit that requires your signature, a copy of your driver’s license or valid photo ID, and your right thumb print.

Upon completion of the bill of sale, you will be given a check for the agreed amount. All bill of sale documents are maintained in protected storage for a period of 1 year after the transaction.

Do you take items on consignment ?

No. We only purchase diamonds, gold, and jewelry.

How do you determine the value of my gold or platinum ?

After testing the karatage and weighing the item, we apply the day's New York gold prices.

How do you determine what you pay for my diamond ?

We take the time to determine the exact color, clarity, carat weight and proportions. And, we do this by using a state of the art computerized laser machine. We never estimate or guess as to what your diamond’s characteristics are.

Will you do a full appraisal on my item ?

We never appraise an item of jewelry that we are going to make an offer on. Appraising an item that you want to purchase can be seen as a conflict of interest. It is also a violation of the ASA ethics code. If you would like an appraisal before or after we make you an offer, we will gladly refer you to another certified appraiser.
